I am a 22 year old PhD student who has lived with UC since the age of 16. My original diagnosis was proctitis, but it spread to pancolitis.
All in all, I know I made the right decision. I am 2 months out of my last surgery and feel great. Sure, some days I’m in pain from adhesions or butt burn, but absolutely none of this compares to the hell I was living in with UC.
