Just Saying Hello!:)

Hello, I have had ulcerative colitis since I was about 15, was eventually diagnosed when I was 21. I am now 33 and in a flare – meh! Am on preds just now and suffering but not as bad as some other folk. I have proctitis and it amazes me that consultants can say, “it’s just a small diseased section…” That may well be true but OMG it is soooo painful!
I live in Scotland and am a Secondary school teacher which is tough on the UC. I have achieved most of my goals – the one that has failed me is starting a family -possibly due to being poorly. My dream holiday would be somewhere in South America or India. One day!! The UC will not stop me as I have travelled in the past – ok it was not easy but it can be done!
Thanks for setting up this forum – they are truly invaluable for folk like us! Wish I had access to something like this when I was younger!!

Colitis Medications:

Have tried a lot of meds. I am hoping the steroids work. They are taking their time. I have struggled to find something that keeps me in remission tho – that would obviously be my main goal!! Aza no longer works. I have been told to try suppositories again but they have never worked in the past.

Hard Parts of the Disease:

Hardest things to deal with:

In the past the lonlieness
Worrying about time off work
All the other symptoms – some very scary

Much easier to deal with now – I am a pro! lol Like most folk with IBD tho I often put up with too much and then cannot cope.
