Dr. Vecchio has been my doctor for more than 10 years. He has always been on top of my care for UC....very concerned and his nurse Lisa is a very caring nurse. Always gets back to me with any questions that I may have. I also have to say that he took care of my Grandmother and my Aunt. They also wouldn't see anyone else after seeing him. I had seen other gastro doctors before him.
If you've got IBD and want a doctor who lives for his vacation days and looks like an oompa loompa, you're in luck! Be amazed by his ability to completely talk over you and ignore your symptoms for months at a time! Have your faith in the medical community ruined by this pompous and completely incompetent blowhard! Lets hope your chronic gastrointestinal disease doesn't involve any pain, because guess what? This spineless ignoramus would not prescribe painkillers after 5+ months of unabated pain and eventually just gave up and told me to call the ER. He even laughed at the idea of writing medical marijuana referrals despite admitting that evidence shows it is effective for Crohn's disease. Truly a by-the-books douchebag in that if your medical condition is not exactly like whatever he half-remembers from a text-book decades ago, you are screwed. Will not go the extra mile for you, ever. I would also disagree with the other review, Lisa has a cheerful voice with which she'll call you to tell you nobody's going to help you. If that's all you need to feel better then maybe you don't actually have a serious condition. Both are an absolute disgrace to the medical profession.
Dr. Vecchio seems to understand that their is a connection between what we put in our body and what we get out. When I asked for a referral to a Dietetian, he happily obliged. Also, when I called to ask him about Boswellia supplementation, he explained enough research hadn't been done to remark on the effectiveness or efficacy, but I should switch my probiotic to VSL#3, which was a fabulous suggestion. I was well during most of my time with this physician, but compared to my prior GI doc, he was open to the connection between food and your body. He also, when I insisted I wanted to wean off my medication. said we could only do it once my iron was high enough (I was anemic). He thinks responses through thoroughly, considers your side of things and has a great nurse, Lisa. This duo has always been there for me when I need them and call me back whenever I call them. I say if you're in s pinch, or just want a thorough, albeit quick doc, he's the man to see.
