Ulcerative Colitis and BOOP

I have been on pednisone for the last year & 1/2 to treat my latest ulcerative colitis flare. Which didn’t work so I started Remicade in May. I had 3 infusions and it worked like a miracle, until I landed myself here in the hospital with BOOP.  Here is a link if you want to read wikipedia’s definition of BOOP.

Dr’s now associate BOOP with IBD. I am so scared and sick of these continuing auto-immune/inflammatory dieases. My lungs are responding to the high levels of prednisone but I am scared I will NEVER be free of pred, I am scared that I will never be able to breathe completely again and scared that I will most likely have to stop the remicade and pray that my UC stays at bay and also scared of what OTHER god-awful inflammatory related crap is around the corner!

Has anyone else been diagnosed with boop or a similar experience?

  1. Oh shit! After reading this I’ll get BOOP for sure and Remicade is my crack’s Crack! What is the prognosis? Can you treat the BOOP and go on Imuran or something? I’ll be crossing my fingers for a good outcome. I used to think Prednisone was my crack’s Crack until I went on Remicade. To date I’ve only had one infusion and my second is at the end of the week. Good luck and keep us posted.
