Hi, my name is Zach from Sydney. I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis when I was 18 yrs old. I am turning 25 this year and have had enough!
Symptoms:
Over It:
I was diagnosed with UC when I was 18 years old, and am turning 25 this year. Throughout this time I have tried close to every medication with very little success. Throughout my time I think I had a good 3 month period. I have gone through numerous medications ranging from salofalk, enemas, imuran, dipentum, mezavant, methotrexate, just to name a few. Imuran worked well for a while for me, until i guess i became ‘immune to imuran’ haha. So that drug was thrown out the door and I moved onto others. The main thing I am worried about is the urgency I have in the morning. I have close to no control in the mornings, and am completely worried about where the closest bathroom is and whether it will be accessible to me. It has limited me to not doing anything in the morning for years, not going on public transport, not going in cars with other people and continually making excuses to my friends and work mates. I haven’t told many friends and work mates about my UC. I just make excuses. I was playing Rugby with bright prospects, I tried my hardest to keep playing during my late teens and early twenties but I just couldn’t handle it. My team mates just decided to think that I was lazy and didn’t want to be part of a team anymore. Which is completely not the case, as this was my favourite thing to do in my life, play rugby and be part of a team. I’ve decided that this is not a life I think i deserve. I’ve come to the decision that surgery is my last alternative, although I am packing it and really scared and nervous.

I would be really appreciative.
Colitis Medications:
Currently I am on Methotrexate and Mezavant. They work sometimes, sometimes not. Very powerful drugs that have serious side effects
