OMG, There is Blood on the Toilet Paper

toilet had blood on itMeet Brenda:

Diagnosed just a couple weeks ago, From little ‘ole Delaware. Age 52. Stress it does not do a body good….Looking forward to all the info I can get.

Some more about Brenda:

I try to eat somewhat healthy, but have the occasional days where I go totally overboard. I’m an avid pool player, and not to bad for a girl.

Colitis Symptoms:

I still have the feeling of not completely emptying my bowels, get slight nausea, have the mucus, but currently no blood.

Brenda’s Story

I WOKE UP one morning in August 2014 having to urgently use the bathroom. My surprise was OMG, there is blood on the toilet paper.

Every thought imaginable went thru my mind because the year before I had my gall bladder removed, then hospitalized with acute pancreatitis which magically went away on its own. Anyway, every morning for the next 4 days was the same.

Went to doctor who said it was hemmorroids (without examining me) but I asked to see a specialist. Fast forward a few weeks – I had a scheduled colonoscopy but the doctor could only examine so far due to inflammation. So I was diagnosed with UC, but I guess after reading other peoples stories I feel lucky as I only have Ulcerative Proctis (think that’s misspelled).

I have alot of the same symptoms as others, but mine currently seem to be in a milder form. Reading about others stories on this site has helped me tremendously. I didn’t realize just how bad it could get and I feel blessed that I don’t have it as bad, but I am concerned that it could get worse. My doctor put me on Canasa Suppositories 2 X daily for 3 weeks. I have been using the medication for 1 and a half weeks now.

Blood is gone (knock on wood)

currently no side effects that I am aware of.

My fiance has been very supportive of my condition and I haven’t told any other family members about my condition. It seems somewhat embarrassing to talk about let alone the doctor making me come back again for another colonoscopy in about a month. Gee, can’t wait to have to drink that liquid concoction that I almost puked up the first time. Glad I asked for the lemon-lime flavor as I don’t think I could have managed just plain. I like to know what what others do about their diet? What do you eat? Does Gluten seem to be a culprit? I do know stress must be a major cause.

Medications / Supplements:

I also drink daily “Golden Milk” made out of coconut milk, pepper, tumeric paste, nutmeg, cinnamon and a little coconut oil and honey. Very Tasty! Not sure if it works but drinking it anyway.
