I have UC.. IT sucks!
It has kept me from doing many things!
I live in BC Canada and I love being outside.
Both in the summer and winter!
I find it hard because always in my mind is WHERE is a WASHROOM!
It has restricted where me and my boyfriend camp.
Not even that…
Packing for camping is Crazy.. I have my own food .. extra clothes.. cleansers and meds..
NOT fun
I tryed drinking, I knew as soon as i started drinking it wasnt for me.
So its not so hard to not drink.
Im a kitchen manager, I love food! but can’t eat it, Everything bothers my tummy, I tryed a liquid diet even.. No fun, Also im a vegetarian.
I’m looking for support! this is nothing i would wish on my worst enemy!

All of the posts from “Annonymous UC” are from ulcerative colitis people who anonymously submitted stories or Doctor Reviews, medication, supplement reviews etc… I post all these stories to the site, but they’re different from my own personal stories so hopefully this account makes more sense:) -Adam – founder of iHaveUC.com
Hi Jen!
I have recently been diagnosed with UC, so I can’t really offer you any advice… but I can definitely offer support. I said the exact same thing you did… I would not wish this on my worst enemy.
I cannot drink either. Which is fine, because I’m not a big fan of the taste of alcohol… though, I do like the frilly drinks (like Mudslides!!!!).
Right now my biggest frustrations are Prednisone (which makes my joints swell and cause me to be limited in my karate workouts) and trying to get everything “regulated.”
I hope that you can find peace of mind and comfort soon! Hang in there!
Perhaps try a gluten free diet and see if that helps.
Goodluck,
Peter
It’s definitely a huge change because you have to consider medication, exercise, stress-levels and diet all at the same time. With the diet you have to allow your digestive system to not only heal the tissues but also to control the ratio of good-to-bad bacteria AND the immuno-response that caused it in the first place. I’m on the SCD and even though I’m not vegetarian I’m sure it can be rough finding good sources of protein without adding meat. You can get this under control though, just keep reading all the info you can find and talking with your doctor. You’re going to discover a solution that works for you.
