My mom has had quite the journey through life. A brain aneurysm which resulted in brain surgery, a stroke in which she lost her whole left side (but can now walk again), seizures, breast cancer and now Ulcerative Colitis.
My mom has had Ulcerative Colitis for not quite a year, and right now as I type this she is laying in a hospital bed hooked up to an IV. I brought her in 2 days ago, because she could not keep anything in her… no water, nothing. She is a tiny person to start with and she has lost another 20 pounds. Enough was enough so I drove her to emerge. They have started her on Prednisone and Asacol, I think they are planning to keep her on the asacol when they ween her off the Predisone. They said that she has a severe case of ulcerative colitis and that she is going to need some sort of plan for when she leaves. I think they mean medication. She has tried the SCD diet, but really nothing has worked for her so far. I am hoping she finds some relief soon!
Ulcerative Colitis Medications My Mom Has Already Tried:
She tried Asacol when she had her first flare up but it did not help her at all! I think it made her worse. This is her first time trying Prednisone.
