Lialda as an Ulcerative Colitis Treatment:
I was diagnosed with moderate UC in late 2007. I was put on Lialda, took it for over a year…this was before they had released the (recent) study saying that it keeps folks in remission and is perfectly safe to do so. I fully believe that Lialda cured my Ulcerative Colitis because I stayed on it for over a year, everyday. I stopped the meds and haven’t had a flare up since. Maybe I’m lucky, maybe not. All I know is that it worked for me. It stopped my initial problems within a week, and I was so relieved I just kept taking them religiously, and that’s my story. I hope it works for other folks the same way. It probably won’t work as easily for folks with severe UC, like I said, mine was moderate to begin with.
Ulcerative Colitis Symptoms Before and After:
Symptoms before: lots of blooddy stools, constant having to go, unable to pass gas, abdominal pain, embarrassment, not able to go anywhere without worrying about it, not able to enjoy the same foods and beer as before.
Colitis Medications I Tried Before and Medications/Supplements I’m taking now?
Lialda was the only thing I tried, it cured me, I’m convinced. It has been over a year since I stopped the meds and no flare ups!

All of the posts from “Annonymous UC” are from ulcerative colitis people who anonymously submitted stories or Doctor Reviews, medication, supplement reviews etc… I post all these stories to the site, but they’re different from my own personal stories so hopefully this account makes more sense:) -Adam – founder of iHaveUC.com
Did you experience any side effects with Lialda? I’ve was recently diagnosed with UC and am currently on Apriso.
You are not cured, there is no cure, you are lucky to be in remission. I hope it continues for a long long time.
susan there is a cure for everything as long as you can keep your chin up and keep experimenting till you figure out your bodies specific needs. lets stay positive!
I completely agree with Michael. Your body is able to heal itself as long as you provide it with the proper mineral and vitamins it needs to rebuild.
Agree with u michael.
Every thing is curable, just we need to find the way.
I have been experiencing mild UC for 1 1/2 years now. I switched GI and I was put on Lialda 4 tablets a day. I am symptom free, blood free already after taking only for 2 days. It is a blessing, I
I was diagnosed with what mild UC in 2008. I have been taking 4 tablets a day for 5 years now when I was diagnosed. I tried stopping once about 1.5 years in and immediattely flared. I think I am about to try and drop down to 2 per day just to see what happens. Lialda has a few side effects of it’s own with me but nothing near the hell of a flare. It is a fairly expensive RX though costing roughly $4 per pill (almost $6000/year), Luckily my work’s health plan covers it. Good luck people! i want to believe I can be cured, I really do.
I have been taking Liada for about 6 months now it definately helps alot with my symptoms. I have been diagnosed with UC for almost a year now. I started off taking Apriso and it almost made my symptoms worse along with heart palpitations. I def would recomment Liada over Apriso. I have been very impressed with this medication
I WAS DIAGNOSED WITH C-DIFF TOXIN IN 2009. I HAVE BEEN TAKING LIALDA EVER SINCE AND THIS IS 2014. FOR THE PAST 3 MONTHS JAN FEB APRIL 2014 I HAVE BEEN TAKING ONE TABLET A DAY. STRESS BETWEEN MAY 19 AND MAY 26, 2014 CA– USED ME TO BEGIN TAKING 2 TABLETS TWICE A DAY. MY SYMPTOMS SINCE MAY 26, 2014 WERE STOMACH CRAMPS, SO I BEGAN TAKING THE ORIGINAL DOSAGE FROM 2009. I WATCHED A KCPT (KANSAS CITY PUBLIC TELEVISION) PROGRAM DURING THE MONTH OF MARCH 2014, I BELIEVE AND I WAS GREATLY IMPRESSED WITH THE PROGRAM. A WOMAN HAD COLITIS AND WAS GIVEN A FECAL TRANSPLANT – FECES FROM A PERSON WITH A HEALTHY COLON WAS TRANSPLANTED INTO HER COLON. SHE IS (AS OF THE BROADCAST) COLITIS FREE. THE SURGERY WAS INDEED EXPENSIVE. THIS WOMAN WAS BOUND AND DETERMINED TO EXPLORE ALL OPTIONS TO BE FREE OF THIS DISEASE AND SHE HAD UNLIMITED INCOME. I HOPE SHE NEVER HAS ANOTHER FLARE UP AS LONG AS SHE LIVES. I AM, HOWEVER, THANKFUL THAT LIALDA IS CONTROLLING MY SYMPTOMS AT THE PRESENT. PRAY FOR ME PLEASE THAT THE LIALDA WILL NOT DAMAGE MY KIDNEYS. GOD BLESS YOU ALL.
