Flare Up and Developing Left Side Pain

Introduction:

I am 33 years old, I was diagnosed about 2 years ago, since then I have been in remission until now. But this time, the flare is not going away. I don’t really know what to do.

Some more about me:

I enjoy walking with my five year old Golden Retriever, we walk a lot but since I am in a flare up I just don’t want to do much.

Symptoms:

I was in remission for 2 whole years, this past May, work became so insanely busy and I started working late and eating CRAP!! Stressful long hours, have caused me to fall off of keeping up with the SCD diet.

Flare Up and Developing Left Side Pain

My flareup symptoms, started on May 24th of this year. First it was a harmless little blood and flash forward to last week. I was in full flare up mode, blood, mucus, no poopy, if poopy very little with lots of pain. I was on NO MEDICATION, because I don’t believe in it. Everytime, I go to my doctor, he gives me ASACOL. That’s the answer to everything. I have asked him if its diet related, he says NO! I know otherwise, after I went for my first colonscopy (sp?) I started the SCD diet, and it does work. Maybe not for everyone but it did. I went from eating crap, to watching everything I did eat. No processed foods, no soy, no wheat, no diary, no sugar and I was in remission and enjoying life again. However, now, for some reason, I can’t shake off the flare up mode. The blood has lessen, not much gas and mucus has lessened. However, since yesterday, I started developing a Left side pain and it worries me. Anyone have any suggestions? I went to my GI doctor and took the day off. I should also say that I traveled to South America for 2 days, but hardly eat anything. The doctor said you have to take Asacol and Tramadol (50MG) for side pain. The doctor said its possible that it is spreading????!! What? That is the last thing I need to hear. He said to rest and take meds and not go to work for at least two days, plus I have to go for colonscopy, to see what is going on.

Questions for UCers:
1) Has anyone experienced Left side pains, (almost I would guess around the liver area)? Does it go away?

2) I recently purchased a juice machine and started making pineapple juices on my own, to avoid sugars from anything canned? Does anyone else do this, is that good?

3) As previously mentioned, the blood and mucus has lessened on one end, but now the pain on the side, I have never experienced. Any thoughts?

4) After my trip, I have sleeping alot. Ugh.
Any feedback is greatly appreciated. I just want to get back to remission, but I can’t for some reason.

Medications:

As of Today, Asacol HG (800mg) 3 pills twice a day ( I already feel light headed which is why I am anti medications)
Tramadol (50 mg) 3X a day for side pain
and Canasa (1000mg) once at night.
