Comments About the Doctor:
Dr. Barlow has been very supportive throughout my pancolitis diagnosis. He takes his time listening to “your story” and any question is not considered to be shocking or silly! He makes sure that when the appointment is through, every question and answer has been asked. Even after all the extensive research I have done on my diagnosis, he is very well versed and is cautious with the types of medications prescribed. It seems that he looks at the big “life” picture too, from how to get through a day, to getting into a maintainence stage to my future family planning and the effects of UC. He also gave me his card with his phone numbers and emergency phone numbers in case I had any further issues or questions after leaving his office. Twice, I have had a flare up and when I called the office, the nurses were very helpful and gave Dr. Barlow’s advice for a treatment plan, even calling in my prescriptions and letting me know when they were available for pickup at my local pharmacy along with booking a physical follow up. The entire doctors office is compiled of 7 G.I doctors with an onsite surgical center for colonscopies and endoscopes done by your same G.I Doctor…a comfort when feeling nervous about such procedures, so I have felt in good hands with so many additional doctors with expertise in the field.
Dr. Barlow was extremely rude to my grandmother who had brought my grandfather there for a procedure. My grandfather has diabetes and dementia and for the past few weeks has been unable to walk. I have been helping as much as I can but during this particular instance was at work and unable to accompany her to the appointment. My grandmother had trouble getting my grand father in and out of the car so Dr. Barlow’s staff offered to help. Afterward Dr. Barlow told my grandmother that she needed to put my grandfather in a nursing home because he didn’t appreciate her having half his staff in the parking lot helping put my grandfather in the car. THEY OFFERED. How do you tell a woman who has been married to a man for 55 years and has taken care of him through her own health problems that she should throw her husband away because his staff has to take 5 mins out of their day to help move him from the wheel chair into the car. Shame on you Dr. Barlow.
My husband and I had a similar experience when my husband was hospitalized and Dr Rosado was not on call. Dr Barlow has a very rude bedside manner and uses terms the typical lay-person cannot understand. He acts very impressed with “himself” and shows no empathy for a sick person or their family.
I would not recommend him for your health care needs.
