Dr. Kothari is very efficient and takes the time to talk with the patients. The office staff is knowledgeable. His surgical schedule is also very accommodating. I don't know how many UC patients he has, but he's been very open in discussing options with me. I'm at the beginning of my life with UC (distal UC, currently enjoying my first flare) and it's a scary idea that I have this thing that will never go away. Having a doctor that I can reach and that I can trust for what will likely be long term observation and care is important. If things go worse, at least I know that I have established a relationship with a doctor that I can trust.
Hi Rick,
How are things going with Dr Kothari? I’m looking for a Gastro doc in the Rochester area…
Like most medical offices, theirs is a busy one. I have dealt with Amy (the NP) for most of my non-urgent issues, but she always returns the call. Dr. Kathari has called me back with 24 hours (again, for non-emergency questions) when I request it.
I am at a point where I need medication to treat ancilary issues from UC. I wanted Entyvio, and Dr. Kotharii pushed for it with my insurance company after they denied the request. I will be starting Humira in a month, and while I’m not happy about it, I’m not happy to have UC either. I have gone med free for three years, and have 0 gut issues, but the inflammation is affecting my joints. I have few options. Dr. Kothari has been very generous with his time in explaining my options to me.
He has several offices in the Rochester area, one of which should be close to you.

I’m happy that you aren’t dealing with gastro issues– and sorry to hear that your joints are affected.
We were able to get in with Dr Kothari’s practice but not with him. My daughter will see Dr Parisian next week.
Daughter is leaving for college in less than 2 weeks and is still un-diagnosed despite extensive testing. We were going to pursue a 2nd opinion anyway and figured it would be a good idea to do so in Rochester.
