Do not see this man (I don't think he is a real doctor)

Dr. McCullough is the only doctor that I have ever seen that has put me in tears. I have waited months for some test results because every time I had a follow-up scheduled, the did not have the results yet. Months is a long time to wait when you're not feeling well. He told me I was overmedicated - which is funny because he was the only doctor that had ever prescribed me anything. So he says I'm over medicated, but then wants to prescribe more medication.. I'm confused.. When I tried to question him about the new medication he could not explain anything or answer my questions. I'm sorry, but I'm not going to take a random drug if you can't tell me why I should be taking it. I left the office in tears and he pretty much pushed me out the door because he did not care. I am not interested in being someones lab rat (I wouldn't even trust him to treat a lab rat). Please don't waste your time.

I am giving 2 stars because I believe this doctor knows what most other smart GI doctors know from their GI doctor text books. He can scope, diagnose, and write a prescription. Because I move often for my husband's career I am always in search of a new GI every 2-3 years. It's awful. DX UC in 2005 and on SCD with no major episodes from 2005-2009. One 2 month flare during pregnancy 3-2009 and then symptom free 2010-2012. After adopting our daughter from China in August I went into a full on flare. Not having a doctor locally, I was able to get in to see Dr. McCullogh fairly quickly( 2 weeks wait) and get a scope done immediately. That was nice. But, this doctor was not interested in hearing ANYTHING about my history including my terrible toxic reaction to masalamine drugs or how I'd been controlling symptoms for almost 8 years now with diet. After my colonoscopy that showed what we all knew was happening (pan colitis) he gave me prednisone taper and ASACOL HD. I told him I wouldn't take the Asacol as I'd had 2 separate occasions when it nearly killed me. He said this is a different formulation. Guess what happened when I took it!?!?! Terrible, terrible drug for me. Regardless, after that terrible reaction, he said I needed to go in to the office so they could get my insurance in line to get me started on Remacaid. Hmmmm.. I said I'm not interested in Remacaid. He said, in the words of a certified letter to my home, that he no longer wished to be my doctor. So, no, if you are looking for a doctor who will talk with you, listen, and try to figure out what might work best for you, then R. Wade McCullough is not the doctor for you. If you just want a doctor who can scope you and get you signed up for Remacaid, then he's your man. But, don't question his judgement or you may find yourself served papers saying he has divorced you as a patient. How sad.
