Comments About the Doctor:
Dr. Steinbook is my second GI doctor. I didn’t feel like I was getting anywhere with my first doctor so I decided to get a second opinion. Although Dr. Steinbook doesn’t have the best bedside manner, I think he really cares about his patients. His ultimate goal isn’t to be friends with his patients, but to make them better. He knows what should happen next in your steps to going into remission and he does everything he can to make sure you get there. His office staff is extremely helpful with everything and they’re always so nice. I would highly recommend Dr. Steinbook if you’re looking to get into remission and get a control on your UC.
I would not recommend Dr. Steinbook if you have UC. I have used him for a number of year and while my UC was under control, he was fine as a doctor because all he had to do was keep prescribing my medicine. When my UC flared he continued to push the same medicine at me that was not working. He also gave me several antibiotic treatments. For a two month period my flare was so bad that I was out of work, unable to leave the house, and most days could barely get out of bed. Even after multiple hospital stays, Steinbook just kept saying I had to wait on the medication to work. Then, he pushed surgery. I have since switched doctors and my new doctor was shocked that Steinbook suggested life altering surgery and never explored other medicinal options for me. My new doctor has restored my life to me. I do not recommend Dr. Steinbook. He does not care about his patients. He wants to see as many as possible, so he moves you out as fast as possible. He does not try to understand or help your condition. He just wants to hand you a drug and send you on your way.
