Dr. Onuma is really a very kind man and is a knowledgeable doctor. He is not very aggressive in his treatment and definitely believes in the low-slow approach. While under his care I did get better, but I never got into remission. He is a great listener and is very easy to get ahold of-- I could call his office and leave a message for him and he would always call me back the same day after work to check on me and talk about my symptoms. I do wish he was more aggressive with my treatment since I that could have helped. I eventually had to transfer my care to a more specialized doctor that could help me more. I think that if you are a regular UC patient with your disease pretty much in control and you are actually responding to medical treatment then this could be the perfect doctor for you. However, if your case is more severe and your body is rejecting treatment, than you might want to go to a different doctor.
