Comments About the Doctor:
When I first visited Dr. Gavrila, she seemed nice enough but not overly concerned with my condition. However, I had pretty mild UC symptoms at the time and responded very well to a run of treatment with Canasa. When I was pregnant, I had a severe flare, and her attitude was completely different – she was extremely supportive and attentive! Her office called me regularly to check up on me, she would make room for me in her schedule if I needed to see her, and was just all-around fabulous making sure everything was being done for me and my baby. The pregnancy was really difficult because of my UC, and honestly she was following me more closely than my OB. I credit her attention with my child doing as well as he did. Postpartum, because I was breastfeeding, it was her that suggested I try SCD as a treatment and encouraged me to follow up with a naturopath as well, so I feel she is very open to exploring all options, whether that be hard-core medi cation or more alternative courses of action.
The office itself seems to be very responsive – I’ve never had a problem reaching anyone, although when I’m not in crisis mode and the doc isn’t changing her own schedule to treat me it can sometimes be a few weeks before I’m able to get an appointment. Once checked in at the office, I don’t recall ever having had to wait an unreasonable amount of time, either.
