While visiting my fiance one weekend, she used the bathroom after me and noticed some blood in the bowl. She asked me about it, and I didn’t know what to say. After arguing for a while, I eventually agreed to see a doctor.
I’m terrific. I quit the meds, I stopped seeing my doctor, I stopped doing anything related to my UC. However, I’m working out at the gym, I ride my bike, I can drink (no beer), I eat almost whatever I want (no fruits, except for berries) and feel amazing.
It doesn’t change WHO I am. I am a crazy loud person who will talk to ANYONE about poop. I want everyone I know to talk to me if they think they may have a problem. I want to be that person that has an “incurable” disease that shows people life is still out there. I do not let my pain decide what I can and can’t do.

She had an awful hospital stay after her diagnosis, and the last time we heard from her she was entering a flare up. But oh have things changed for the better. She’s getting on with life on her terms and back in control of her health and her colitis.
