Ulcerative Colitis Blues

YahairaMeet Yahaira:

I was just diagnosed with ulcerative colitis last week and I’m suffering a “flare up”. I’m 27 years old with three kids and two foster kids, and of course I’m devastated…I don’t know anything about UC, don’t know what to do, how to feel, what will happen, and I’m a bit afraid. I’m not looking forward to Jan. 9 (my first gastro. appt.)

Some more about me:

I am a loving caring person I try my best to do my best at everything put in front of me to do I really don’t have my own personal hobbies just mainly dedicated to taking care of my kids and give them the best life I possibly can. I love these kids. They are my life day in and day out!!!

What Are My Colitis Symptoms?:

Well, right now I’m experiencing the worst “flare up” its almost been a month with the same worsening pain diarrhea, blood in stool, abdominal pain, back pain, loss of appetite, hunger, fear of eating.

My Colitis:

Yey there everyone, well… my name is Yahaira (ja-hi-ra) just in case your stuck ;) I’m 27 yrs. old and I have 3 beautiful kids and two wonderful foster kids. I was just diagnosed last week with colitis I haven’t been to a specialist yet. So I’m very new to everything and very burdened by this news being that I have so much going on in my life at this point. I’m so devastated and feel like I have no one to talk to about what I’m going through the pain, the constant bathroom breaks, the fear of eating, the blood, the feeling of not having a life anymore, confined to my home, my kids going through it as well, the guilt of not being able to do more with myself, people demeaning what I’m going through like its minor and I’m making a drama of it. ugh… I’m just so glad I found this website where I feel so at home where people know how I feel and know what I’m going through its a huge comfort.

I don’t know too much about this disease only that not taking care of it can lead to death as my father did his case was very serious in fact he ultimately died of colon cancer it only began as colitis… so I’m so afraid, so terrified. I’m just so blessed to have the support of an awesome mother and fiance an awesome church family who prays for me and this place to feel some comfort. I just wanted to tell a bit of what I’m going through. please make any suggestions like foods I can eat or what I have to look forward to in the future. any comments to help, words of encouragement. please and thank you in advance so much.

Colitis Medications:

right now I’m only on bentyl, tramadol for the pain, vitamins
