On the Road to Recovery

14 years ago I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis so back in 2000. Colitis ruined my life.

This horrible disease hit me like a tornado out of no where. I lived most of my young life with it. The worst part was I didn’t go into remission one time not once in 14 years. I was just hoping it would go away or they would come out with a new pill but that never happenred. I wasn’t getting any better I was actually getting worse. I couldn’t eat anything without suffering for it . I couldn’t go anywhere because I didn’t want to have to worry about looking for bathroom or making sure I was close to one. I couldn’t do my Job I would have to pull over to the side of the road a lot of times. I was to the point I was losing control of not only my bowels but my whole life was spiraling out of control too. I was tired of it all tired of crapping myself spending nights sleeping on the bathroom floor crying my eyes out, tired of pain so many trips to hospital. Well about a week ago I had another trip to hospital. This time I was about to do what I was d reading for 14 years. I told the Doc in the ER I was tired and couldn’t live like this anymore and two days later …I had my colon removed. It was the hardest decision I made in my entire life. I had my whole colon removed and now have an ileostomy. My surgeon said it was just disintegrating when he would touch it my colon was so burnt out and I should of had this done 10 years ago. It might of been the hardest thing I ever did in my life but I’m so glad I did it my pain is gone except post OP pain from surgery I’m not sick to my stomach anymore, no more PILLS!!!! I can eat again and not feel bloated and have to run to the bathroom 5 minutes later and the urgency is gone. So in 5 months I’m having the j-pouch done and I’m so thankful I feel like I have a new life. I would also like to ask the people that do have a jpouch is it a good choice to make. Thanks for reading.

Medications:

I take no more Meds except for anxiety medicine and pain meds from my surgery

I use to take every med you could think of
