Hey UC’ers,
Katryna, who’s written several colitis stories before (I never knew she was a song writer too!!) recently posted up this classic song with her own UC twist yesterday on the ihaveuc facebook group page, and I asked her (and she said heck yeah) if it would be alright to share with the rest of you. If you happen to get a Christmas Carol singer this year where you live and they are singing this version, be a kind UC’er and offer your bathroom in-case that’s what they are in need of. So put your toilet paper down and let’s give it up to Katryna!
“On the first day of Christmas, my UC gave to me,
A gut that doesn’t work properly.
On the second day of Christmas, my UC gave to me,
Two dodgy wrists and a gut that doesn’t work properly.
On the third day of Christmas, my UC gave to me,
Three meds daily, two dodgy wrists and a gut that doesn’t work properly.
On the fourth day of Christmas, my UC gave to me,
Four seconds notice, three meds a day, two dodgy wrists and a gut that doesn’t work properly.
On the fifth day of Christmas, my UC gave to me,
Five naps a day!
Four seconds notice, three meds daily, two dodgy wrists and a gut that doesn’t work properly.
On the sixth day of Christmas, my UC gave to me,
Six weekly blood tests,
Five naps a day!
Four seconds notice, three meds daily, two dodgy wrists and a gut that doesn’t work properly.
On the seventh day of Christmas, my UC gave to me,
Seven bouts of cramping, six weekly blood tests,
Five naps a day!

On the eighth day of Christmas, my UC gave to me,
Eight years of illness, seven bouts of cramping, six weekly blood tests,
Five naps a day!
Four seconds notice, three meds daily, two dodgy wrists, and a gut that doesn’t work properly.
On the ninth day of Christmas, my UC gave to me,

Five naps a day
Four seconds notice, three mes daily, two dodgy wrists, and a gut that doesn’t work properly.
On the tenth day of Christmas, my UC gave to me,
ten swollen knuckles, nine months of testing, eight years of illness, seven bouts of cramping, six weekly blood tests,
Five naps a day!
Four seconds notice, three meds daily, two dodgy wrists, and a gut that doesn’t work properly.
On the eleventh day of Christmas, my UC gave to me,
Eleven nights in hospital, ten swollen knuckles, nine months of testing, eight years of illness, seven bouts of cramping, six weekly blood tests,
Five naps a day!
Four seconds notice, three meds daily, two dodgy wrists, and a gut that doesn’t work properly.
On the twelfth day of Christmas, my UC gave to me,
Twelve pounds of weight gain, eleven nights in hospital, ten swollen knuckles, nine months of testing, eight years of illness, seven bouts of cramping, six weekly blood tests,
Five naps a day!
Four seconds notice, three meds daily, two dodgy wrists, and a gut that doesn’t work properly!”

I started site shortly after being diagnosed in October of 2008 with severe pancolitis (when my whole colon was inflamed).
For me, it was a very rough start with severe symptoms. Getting bounced from medication to medication was not easy or too helpful. But, I did meet another UC’er, changes several parts of my diet, and of course the rest is history.
