New Mom, New UC’er

Any new moms with success with medications?
How long with the UC Diet did you notice a difference?
It was a little over a year ago I was diagnosed with UC. I am a emergency room RN and put off going to the hospital for about 3 weeks but as my bleeding and other symptoms got worse I knew I had to go get it checked out.
I was admitted to the hospital stayed about a week, I received and colonoscopy and the diagnoses of UC.
I went home on a Thursday from the hospital and found out 2 days later I was pregnant. I was very concerned about the babies well being due to the anesthesia, medication and procedures I had went thru in the hospital. I was considered a high risk pregnancy and was very well monitored by three docs during my pregnancy. I now have a very healthy little boy who will be 11 weeks old tomorrow. I am currently taking Asacol, enemas and I weaned myself off prednisone 9 days ago. I was on prednisone for nearly and entire year and do not like taking it. The drugs I can take are very limited due to the fact that I am nursing. I am concerned however because I have bee n feeling terrible. It is not so much the getting up and having to go to the bathroom often it is more the joint, back pain and severe fatigue I have been experiencing. I go back to work in 2 weeks and I am worried I wont be able to hang for my entire 12.5 hr shift and I know that I am being the best mom I could be to my little boy. I am feeling very down today and I am so stiff and in a lot of pain. I feel like no one in my family really understands and I feel at times I do not understand. I just want to have energy again and feel well. I am willing to do what ever it takes.
