Homeopathy for Ulcerative Colitis

Connie_12-12-11-1Intro:

Having UC since 2004, about 11 years. My FB id is Connie Madahar. I can also be reached at kanwal1001@yahoo.com, in case anyone may have any questions abut my struggle with the Ulcerative Colitis.

Some more background:

I am a retired legal professional, female, 66 years of age, on Disability (SSI) as I could not work after having 4 spinal re-constructive surgeries during 2001 – 2004. And then I also had UC and then renal cancer. I am into fitness, with water aerobics as my primary source of aerobic activity (residual pain issues make it very hard for me to walk or jog). I also do weight training, stationary bike, pillates, yoga and a lot of deep stretching. I paint, read, surf the net, socialize, shop, and really have a passion for gardening.

Symptoms:

At present I do not have any symptoms at all. Thanks to my Homeopathic treatment.

Homeopathy for Ulcerative Colitis

Diagnosed with UC in 2004, put on Asacol, 9 pills a day. Several flare ups forcing to go on Prednisone, resulting in massive weight gain, in spite of an active life style with regular gym workouts.

Later switched to Lialda.

In 2012, frequent flare-ups, could not be controlled with Prednisone so I was on 6MP (Chemo).

In May 2014, came to India and started Homeopathic treatment (holistic healing), also changed diet drastically, no gluten, no milk, only home-made buttermilk, vegetables, fruits, eggs, poultry, meat, Amaranth Flour, Millet Flour, lintels, nuts and lots of water. In 3 – 4 months I was off Chemo and Prednisone. Still taking Lialda, as I am too scared of flare-ups and do not want to go back on Steroids, but doctors feel confident that I can start tapering it off any time I was mentally ready. I have now lost over 8 kg (over 17 lbs), and still wanting to lose another 20 – 30 kg. I feel great and cannot wait to finally get off Lialda as well. I really recommend Homeopathic medicines, if you can find a doctor in your area. It has given me a new lease of life. BTW, in 2009, I lost one kidney to cancer and in 2014 I was having protein in my urine. But now my kidney functions is perfect and all my tests are coming clean. I cannot stress the benefits of Homeopathy. Just make sure you find a good and compassionate doctor who really knows his/her job.

I believe there is a Center for Homeopathy in California. May be you can find it, if you are in the US. Homeopathy heals from within. They treat the patient and not the symptoms, so in addition to Ulcerative Colitis, it has also helped with my depression, anxiety (no more anti-depressants for me), allergies (no more inhalers for me), sleep, stress, chronic pain, weight loss — you name it!

Medications:

At present only taking Lialda 1.2 gm, four pills a day, once a day. With Homeopathic treatment I am successfully off Prednisone and 6MP (Chemo Therapy).

Absolutely awesome to read this, Connie! Proof positive that if you correctly treat the root cause of the problem (not simply masking symptoms), you can help heal yourself.

    Keep feeling better!

Thanks Marty, it has taken me to do a complete life-change. I am now leading a life of minimal stress, quit working and doing with much less, while also managing in India, where quality of life is low, but at least I do not have the stress — the primary cause of this disease. … Hopefully I can also get rid of Lialda in due time, and then I will be a really happy camper……. :D

    Hi Connie,

Glad to know Homeopathy has helped you so much! Really must be a relief after all you’ve been through. Im also from India, and have been following an Ayurvedic treatment along with the regular meds as I too, am afraid of flare ups!

Would be of great help if you could share contact details for your homeopathy doctor in India, possibly a number, address or email?

    Thanks!

    Hi Chaitanya,

Since May 2014, I am in Mumbai, India. Before committing to Homeopathy, while exploring various treatment possibilities for UC, I talked to many Ayurvedic experts and they all told me that they did not have a CURE for UC, only medicines for relief. Also, they recommended some dietary remedies like taking Turmeric in heavy quantities, buttermilk (thin) many times a day, etc. Do not recall other herbs and foods. And then I talked to some Homeopathic doctors/Holistic healers who claimed they did have a cure for UC so I started their treatment.

At first I was seeing a private doctor in Mumbai, and took his medicine for 3 – 4 months, with no consequence. And then my on-line research brought me to CMT College & Hospital in Irla, Mumbai. It is a multi-speciality hospital, where they have one wing for Homeopathy. It is also a college for Homeopathy, with a hostel for students from all over the country. Very soon after starting their medicine, I was able to taper off Steroids and 6 MP. And their charges are negligible, as compared to the private doctor. Dr. Patel is the Principal of this college and I am assigned to his team of doctors. Initially I had to visit the hospital 2 times a week, but now I get medicine for 3 months at-a-time. During each visit, I see Dr. Patel, his assistant doctor/teacher and quite a few of his students/Interns, who are also being taught, while the patients are being treated. Dr. Patel’s team also hooked me up with a GI Specialist, a Cancer Specialist and a Nutritionist, who put me on Gluten Free diet, and put me on to Ptobiotics (supplemens). She also told me to take only home-made buttermilk as the buttermilk available in the market is pasturized so the Pro-biotics are killled, etc.

You can write to me directly at kanwal1001@yahoo.com. I can also share my phone number with you, if you need to talk to me, for any reason. I will also find details about CMT college and send those to you, or you can just Google it. In case you are not able to consult with the doctors at CMT college on telephone, without a personal visit, you may Google other Homeopathic doctors in India, there are thousands of those, and then contact any one of those and may be they will be able to help you long-distance.

Assuming you are in the US, you may also Google and find a Homeopathic Healing Center in California. They may also be able to help you out. If you need any additional information or help from me, please feel free to contact me again and I will be happy to help.

I appreciate you sharing your information, but I cant help feel that there were so many factors changed at once thats Im dubious about your claim that homeopathy helped. You changed your whole diet, where and how you lived.
But you are also still taking the anti inflammatory mesalazine, have you tried stopping this to see if your homeopathy really is working?

    Connie July 25, 2015 at 12:39 am #

You are right. I am sure all the other factors are helpful as well. I am completely off 6MP and Steroids. My GI doctor told me that once he puts me on 6MP, I will need to take it for the rest of my life. It was killing my white and red blood cells and I was very weak. I felt disabilitatingly sick and was miserable. My doctors would not allow me to travel to any 3rd world country for fear of infections. But I came to India anyways and started Homeopathic treatment.

And now, with Homeoprathy, at least I am able to discontinue those two horrible medicines. Now I am also trying to taper off I am tapering off Mesalazine (Lialda 1.2 GM x 4 a day), cut down from 4 pills a day to 3 pills a day, and will slowly but surely cut down more and more, until I do not take any pills at all. Very soon I will be taking 2 pills-a-day. I do not want to rush myself, and am taking my own sweet time. I am sure I can even stop this medicine, but I rather be safe than sorry. I never want to go on Steroids again, so I am taking my own sweet time to discontinue Mesalazine.

I do not suggest that others should do it too. It is working for me, so I share my story. There is no guarantee that it will work for others as well.

BTW with Homeopathy, I am also off Anti-depressants, inhalers (for asthma/severe allergies), lack of sleep, acute anxiety, stress, weakness — you name it!

Thanks Shelly. Oh, and another thing I forgot to add — in 2009 I lost one Kidney to cancer. Just before leaving US in April 2014, my last urine test showed traces of protein. I was scared to death, as I believed I was getting Kidney Disease in my remaining Kidney. After Homeopathy, there is no Protein in my urine, and my blood test is also normal. I have no scientific evidence to establish a direct relation between my improved health and Homeopathy, but there is no other evident reason to bring upon so many positive changes in my health, after so many years of trying, and trying and trying. Even while in the US, I worked out on regular basis, went to the gym 4 – 6 times a week, did water aerobics for 2 hours about 3-4 times a week, and weight training, and stretching using Pilates and Yoga, but had a very hard time getting fit and keeping my weight under check, especially with repeated use of Steroids. And now, in about 4 months, I have lost over 20 pounds. Needless to say that the pain in my low back, radiating to my right leg, is improving (after four spinal re-constructive surgeries). I hope I can lose another 40- 50 pounds, of course in a couple of years, so I can get down to the same weight I had when I was 18 (no harm dreaming, right?) so I can finally walk long distances, and hike, and bike, just the way I used to, before all this s*&t happened!!

I only share my experiences so it may help others. Nor directing anyone to try Homeopathy. Just sharing my personal, positive exeperiences.

Have a good time and stay well … ::D

Connie…you’ve had quite a challenging road besides the UC. So many battles! I just posted an update story…Remission Potion??? Check it out! There are plenty of us on here that have gone natural. Your right…not everything works for everyone as UC is still a rather individual disease. I am a lifer of UC so I have tried and been on everything and have been Med free for a while. It is important to share and this is the perfect site to do it!
      Best, Shelly

Thanks for your good wishes. The only Mantra I have learned it to stay as stress free as possible. Eliminate stressors from your life, if possible. It is not really worth it! Lots of love, hugs and good wishes.

Congratulations! Connie, you are winning the battle, as you are managing all your problems along with UC. I was also diagonised with UC in Nov, 2014. My colon is inflamed until sigmoid colon (a month ago report from sigmoidscopy). I’m currently having flare-up for about 1 and half months. I’m going to visit homeopathy doctor tomorrow. Based upon your story I’m really positive on it. Before that I got questions. Could you please tell the name of homepathy med you are using? What is your situation right now?

I’m currently on med Vegaz Od (mesalaamine) 1.2g *3.From today I’m also taking Black cumin seed tea before meal 3 times a day.

Best wishes and love from Kathmandu, Nepal.

      Hi Lori,

How are you doing and how are you coping? I am not doing that well, primarily having lots of issues with my living conditions, causing a lot of undue stress. I still cannot eat much and mostly on liquid diet with a home-made buttermilk, pomegranate juice, and bananas. Homeopathic meds are helping me with my condition. I do not have bloody diarrhea, mucus, cramps any more but still cannot eat most of the foods. I will consider myself well if and when I start eating normal food again, even though my normal food will always be gluten free, dairy free, sugar free, free or artificial additives or preservatives, and will be only home-cooked, simple meals, mostly vegetarian. I am happy that I am at least off steroids and other allopaethic meds, but still taking Mesacol 1.2 gms, 4 pills a day. My mental condition is not that great either. I still have a lot of depression, anxiety and stress, disturbed sleep — even though all these symptoms are much better with homeopathic medicines. I also tried Ayurvedic meds for quite a few months, but those did not do much for me. So I was back on homeopathic medicines, which are helping me quite a lot. Once I am in remission, and eat normally, I may start feeling better and find it easier to get over my depression, etc. How can a person be normal and happy if he/she cannot even eat food, right?

Good luck and have a nice day. All the best my dear!

    Hi Mukesh,

I am not doing that well, still cannot eat much and mostly on liquid diet with a home-made buttermilk (chhachh), pomegranate juice, and bananas. I do not know the names of the Homeopathic meds my doctor is giving to me. I never asked him either, but those medicines are helping me with my condition. Good luck with your appointment with your homeopathy doctor. He will design your treatment plan based on your personality. Homeopathic doctors do not treat a condition, they treat a patient. Your doctor will design your treatment plan based on your total personality, your likes, dislikes, your nature, your temperament, etc., etc., etc. After he has taken an in-depth interview and knows you well.

Good luck and have a nice day. All the best my dear!

Thank you Connie. It’s great that you are free of symptoms because of homeopathy. Keep your spirits up. Remissions for longer period of time can cure the disease (that’s what my GI told). I hope soon you can eat normal. By the way have you tried reducing the dose of Mesacol? Aren’t you eating gluten free grains like rice and buckwheat? I take these grains everyday with vegetables, fish and chicken sometimes.

I will let you know after my visit to homeopathy. All the best. Cheers!!!

    Connie February 22, 2017 at 12:02 am #

Right now I am not taking any food at all. I feel I am very close to remission but consuming solid foods triggers some of my symptoms again, so I am trying very hard to stay off food. Once I feel I am in remission, I will eat gluten free, dairy free, sugar free, home cooked natural foods again. Cannot wait but do not want to push it either.

All the best for your visit with your Homeopath.

There is a saying, “there is no bad homeopathy, only bad homeopaths”. If you find the right doctor, you are sure to get better, and better, and finally be cured of this monster of a disease. At least I believe that!

Good luck dear. And you can write to me directly at kanwal1001@yahoo.com. Hope to hear from you some time soon. Best regards, and best wishes.
