Follow Up Regarding Raised Liver Enzymes

Introduction:

What led me to seek professional help in fall of 2009 was sky rocket high anzyme on routine blood work. My counts were 9 times the normal. After numerous CT scans and MRI and endoscopys all done on the course of 3 months I finally had a liver biopsy in the spring of 2010 and was diagnosed with Cholangitis Auto-Immune. My hepatologis works in close team work with my gastroenterologist. I have suffered from urgency pretty much my whole life, as soon as a little anxiety kicks in :) I must say it is not what lead me to consult. I will admit though that the stress of my blood work being such a concern to my family doctor kind of freaked me out and triggered an out of control urgency then the colonoscopy was prescribed and then I was diagnosed with UC in 2010. I must say I have it pretty much under control since official diagnosis as my specialist put me on Salofalk almost right away. I see both my specialists every 6 months and I do blood work every 3 months.

Some more about me:

I am a self employed dressmaker so I work from home. I was working at a bridal store prior to diagnosis but in the course of the testings the urgencies were too frequent (20 +x a day) that I started to work from home. which works out better anyway. I also am a dance teacher as I enjoyed for many years to compete. I now enjoy teaching. My surrounding are all aware of my condition and I always have an assistant with me to take the class over in case I have to “go” :)

Symptoms:

Right now everything is pretty much under control. If I decide to enjoy a good coffee I know I will have “consequence” but once in a while it is a small price to pay!

There is many things to learn as far as the what I can eat and cannot. I am still learning everyday. Red or purple potatoes are a no go or I will “go” big time Idaho potatoes are not so bad. Onion and mushroom are off the menu portobello are fine though. Lactose intolerance have started about a year ago. I will splurge in a good DQ Blizzard on a hot summer night but again “consequence” is a small price to pay. Wine, Beer coolers on rare occasion and only of am at my own house or the night will be miserable. Fried foods as rarely as possible.

Hello Mike H.

My name is Manon.

What led me to seek professional help in fall of 2009 was sky rocket high enzyme on routine blood work. My counts were 9 times the normal. After numerous CT scans and MRI and endoscopys all done on the course of 3 months I finally had a liver biopsy in the spring of 2010 and was diagnosed with Cholangitis Auto-Immune also known as Auto-Immune Hepatitis or Biliary Cyrosis. many therms for the same disease. My hepatologist works in close team work with my gastroenterologist. I have suffered from urgency pretty much my whole life, as soon as a little anxiety kicks in :) I must say it is not what lead me to consult. I will admit though that the stess of my blood work being such a concern to my family doctor kind of freaked me out and triggered an out of control urgency then the colonoscopy was prescribed and then I was diagnosed with UC in 2010. I must say I have it pretty much under control since official diagnosis as my specialist put me on Salofalk almost right away. Tried Mezav ant but it does not seam to work as good for me. I see both my specialists every 6 months and I do blood work every 3 months. I take a drug called Ursodiol to control the anzyme. I also have to take Vit D & Calcium. Right now I am waiting on diagnosis from a thermatologist as either due to a symtom of Cholangitis or one of my drug side effect my skin is extremely sensitive.

My specialist explained to me that it is not uncommon to have those 2 diseases together nor do they know which one caused the other… I am from Montreal Quebec Canada. Have your doctor perform a liver biopsy it will rule out any other test. or he can contact Dr Pomier HEP specialist in Montreal.
Good luck to you.

Medications:

I take Salofalk for my UC
Ursodiol for my Cholengitis
Vitamine surplus: D and calcium.
