Dr. Gomez was my first GI doc. I saw him for about 8 years. He is knowledgeable and has a lot of experience but often seems very rushed. I found it helpful to write down a lot of questions before my appointment but sometimes he gave me the impression that he didn’t have the time to answer all of them. I think he’s used to working with older patients that already know a lot about UC because he wasn’t too thorough in explaining to me what was going on with my body and all the options available to help it. For example, after six months of dealing with a lot of pain I had to specifically ask if there were any pain medications for UC out there– he had never mentioned any despite my continuous complaints of pain. The other office staff are always helpful and his office worked with my insurance but the most frustrating thing was that it took such a long time to get an appointment, even when I had urgent need. Eventually I switched to another doctor because I realized I was avoiding treatment due to my bad experiences.
