Ulcerative Colitis Tips

One of the 15,000 ulcerative colitis folks using the site adds:
"Like many UCers I have spent many hours trawling the internet googling the condition and came across your website a few years ago. I read your ebook and really liked your honesty and humour. As everyone says your positivity is so encouraging and now this is my go to website when I'm thinking about UC. Thankfully my symptoms are pretty much under control at the moment but just wanted to say thanks." Kate

Diagnosed with Severe Colitis

Hi , I was diagnosed with severe colitis two months ago.

I did not know what was happening to my body, lost a lot of blood and have been in the hospital twice in seven weeks.  My last hospital stay was two nights after a really bad flare up.  Doctors said my bowel was too swollen to even do the colonoscopy so I am on steroids now.  So far they are working.  I am also on Colifoam and enemas at night.  I have not touched alcohol and am on a low residue diet.  My only fear is that I finish the steroids in two weeks and then head back in for a colonoscopy, but I worry that it will all start again when I finish my medications.  I am also on Pentasa 2mg twice daily.

My Current Colitis Medications:

2mg Pentasa twice daily, Prednisolone 5mg, Calvepen 666mg four times a day, Colifoam and Enema
